About Chayon

Born and raised on the Azim Steppe to Karajan and Aiyana Dhaos and the younger sister of Karhan Dhaos, she was but 11 summers when she vanished from the steppe, taken in the middle of the night by a group who sought to sell her off.She escaped her captors in Kugane and hid away in a barrel, but was then brought onto a ship and she was shipped off, unbeknownst to the crew. During the journey she sustained a head injury that would give her amnesia. She remembered naught but her name; "Chayon".
She arrived North of Thavnair and was found on the verge of death, head bleeding, and severely malnourished from the long journey. A local Raen family - the merchants whose wares she was amidst - took her in and raised her as their own.
There she grew into the fine woman she is now, having taken up the profession of a Dancer as her peers did, despite not hailing from Thavnair. She excelled at it and was admired by many. And so things would have stayed, had it not been for the Call that one fateful day.
She set out for Eorzea and has since then been named their Champion.
Many nights were plagued by dreams of her past, faces she could not place but knew were important; their names were always just out of reach. One adventure leads to the next and eventually, she finds herself entering the Azim Steppe. A rush of familiarity overcomes her and she just knows that this is 'home'. But she has no clue how to find her missing family, but hopes eventually something or someone will come to her.Following her victory at the Nadaam, after their audience with Magnai, she is informed of someone wanting to speak with her. That is when she finally sees the faces in her dreams in the flesh; her mother and father. Reunited at last, but it is short-lived as she is for Doma. She would come see them once Doma was liberated.

About Karhan

Born and raised on the Azim Steppe to Karajan and Aiyana Dhaos and the older brother of Chayon Dhaos, he was but 14 summers when he lost his sister in the dead of the night. He fought valiantly to save her but fell short due to the sheer number of enemies. Crawling back to his parents' yurt, he woke them up and told them what had transpired.
The sorrow weighed heavily over the entire village - the Khan's daughter.. kidnapped.
But they would not give up - HE would not give up. He trained rigorously and a few months later when he turned 15, he entered Bardam's Mettle. The youngest thus far to attempt it. Naturally, his parents were against it; they did not wish to lose both of their children. But he could not be persuaded to wait a year, and his father knew it was futile so he let him; sternly instructing him to return home safe and victorious.
And that he did.
Soon after, he left their village to find his sister; only coming back every few months and writing home about his findings and the letdowns of being no closer to her whereabouts.
Then, when he was 29, his parents sent the message;
"She is home"
He could not believe what he was reading. The pure joy he felt upon seeing those words.. and then the realization that he could not return home this very moment due to having taken on a job and also training his swordsmanship under a renowned mentor by the name of Musosai. He had waited this long.. surely a month would feel like nothing in comparison to the 14 years he'd spent searching.
Musosai saw him trembling and asked what the letter said. Karhan just looked at him with such a peaceful expression, one Musosai had never seen before.. he would always be so intense and never smiled. Being well aware of his sister's status as missing, Musosai could but surmise one thing - she had been found. He offered to let him go home, but Karhan declined. He would see his responsibilities through, or he would not be able to face her.

The Dhaos Tribe

The Dhaos tribe is a pack of ruthless fighters - but they are not killers. They're much like the Dotharl in their belief that in combat they shine the brightest. But they do not fight to kill, because they cannot keep fighting if they die and then no one wins. Instead, they beat the living shit out of you and inspire you to get stronger and return to fight them again. Because like the phoenix, they shall rise again to fight another day.
No matter how badly injured they get, they will always get back up.
They are considered the 3rd strongest of the tribes, second to the Dotharl only because they value their lives more and will do anything to survive, unlike the Dotharl who do not fear death. However, physically they are the strongest and are respected in that aspect by the other tribes.
But they will use anything to win and are not above breaking bones etc. or using dirty tricks. In most cases their opponents will lose the will to fight due to just how severe a beating they get or how aggressively they fight, making it seem like there's no way to win. Only for them to turn around and help nurse them back to health after leaving them half for dead, just so they emerge stronger hopefully and return to the fight.
"Tis but a flesh wound" is a common saying amongst them, for they believe there is nothing that cannot be healed, until the very moment their soul leaves their body.
They do participate in the Nadaam but not to win, it is purely to fight and get stronger, to enhance themselves and their skills, and that goes for their opponents as well.
They do not fear death, but they do not welcome it either. Survival is imperative.
They are otherwise civil people and welcome anyone to trade goods etc. - they do not discriminate. They will even go to the city.
They are more modernized than the rest of the steppe tribes, but without forgetting their roots. Everything is for the sake of their tribe.
They are somewhat nomadic. They keep a place as home but will travel throughout the world and return home with goods and whatever benefits their tribe, such as combat tricks.
There is nowhere they will not travel if they believe it to be the best for the tribe.
A common trait amongst the Dhaos tribe is their tanned skin and dark hair colors - red being the absolute most prominent hair color. Some say that the blood of their enemies stained their hair for generations.
Also known for having longer tails than other Au Ra, the women often decorating them with intricate jewelry. Therefore, alot of the women knows how to make jewelry and even sells it.
They also have developed scales not seen anywhere else. A small series of scales dotting their skin.
